Botox for Jaw Clenching and Facial Tension
Botox is best known for smoothing lines, but dentists also use it to ease jaw clenching and facial tension. Here is what to know before you ask.
Most people think of Botox as a cosmetic treatment. In a dental practice it has a second role: helping relax overactive jaw muscles for patients who clench or grind.
Why a dentist?
The muscles that move your jaw sit close to your teeth, bite and joints. A dentist who looks at your bite, your teeth and your facial structure together can judge whether those muscles may be contributing to jaw tension, tooth wear or headaches. That is the same whole-patient view we bring to every exam.
How it can help
When jaw muscles are overworked, they can feel tight and tired, and they can wear on teeth over time. Botox can relax those muscles. Many patients also notice a softer, more balanced look through the lower face, which is why clenching relief and facial rejuvenation often come up in the same conversation.
What to expect at a visit
Consultation. We talk through your symptoms, goals and health history, and examine your bite and facial muscles.
A personalized plan. Treatment is planned around your anatomy and what you want, not a standard template.
Follow-up. Results are not permanent, so we review how you are doing and talk about whether more treatment makes sense.
Is it right for you?
Botox is not for everyone, and results vary from person to person. The best first step is a conversation. Call 978.470.4555 or book a visit and we will walk you through your options.
